Biography

 

Katy Biele is a Chilean-born multidisciplinary artist based in Victoria BC, on the traditional territories of the Lkwungen (Lekwungen) peoples.
Biele's visual language and insatiable curiosity for transcending conventional boundaries transcend the limitations of mere medium and colour, inviting us into mesmerizing realms of boundless imagination and intuition. Bridging the gap between paint and fiber, she creates a symphony of textures that dance and intertwine on a vibrant South American colour palette.

Biele’s works range from paintings and embroidery to fiber art installations.
Her work has been featured by The Textile Museum of Canada, The National Museum of Singapore and also she was part of the finalist of the Salt Spring Island National Art Prize 2023/2024 and winner of 3rd place of People’s Choice for that art prize.

Currently working in fiber installations for a group exhibition for the Royal Gardens of Burlington, Ontario for February 2025.
